Free Play Draw

Sandbox VR Toronto & Sandbox VR Vancouver · entries close at month end · drawn at the start of the following month

Every month we draw entrants at random to win a free session for up to six guests. Two winners in Toronto, one in Vancouver. This page shows who won and lets anyone check that the draw was fair.

How to enter

Scan the QR code in-store after your visit and answer a few quick questions. One entry per person per visit — everyone in your group can enter.

Come back within two months and enter again, and your entries carry forward. Four entries without a win and your next session is on us. Earned on paid visits, redeemable Sunday to Thursday — see the rules.

No purchase necessary. You can also enter for free by email — see section 4(b) of the official rules. A free entry has exactly the same chance of winning.

July 2026 — entries committed, winners on 12 August

The July entry lists for both stores are closed and locked. Their fingerprints are published below before the numbers that pick the winners have been drawn, so the lists can no longer be changed and the outcome cannot be steered. You can download the entry lists and check them yourself. Winners will be published on this page on 12 August 2026.

Entries cover 1 July to 31 July 2026. Every entry was checked against our booking records — an entry counts only if it belongs to a real visit, and no booking can produce more entries than it had guests.

Frozen 9 August 2026 at 13:17:24 UTC. Published the same day — two days before the Lotto Max draw that decides the winners, and three days before they are computed.

The downloadable list carries only a position number and an entry number, so no personal information is published. The full list, which includes names and email addresses, is what the seed is computed from; its fingerprint is above and it is held by Vortex Group.

We do not publish the full list and we do not release it on request, because it holds other guests' personal information and they did not agree to that. It will be produced to a privacy regulator or a court, to our own professional advisors, and — for their own entry only — to an entrant who asks. Everything needed to check the draw is already public: the fingerprint was fixed before the numbers were drawn, so the list behind it cannot have been altered, and the selection can be recomputed from the positions alone.

How the winners will be computed

The numbers: the seven main numbers — bonus excluded — of the first Lotto Max draw held on or after Tuesday 11 August 2026, sorted lowest to highest, each written as two digits and joined with hyphens. If no Lotto Max draw takes place on or before 18 August 2026, the first Lotto 6/49 draw after that date is used instead and the substitution is recorded here.

The seed: SHA-256( full_list_hash + "|" + numbers ) — computed separately for each store, so the two draws are independent.

The selection: starting from the store's full list of positions, for k = 0,1,2,3,4,5 take the entry at index int( SHA-256( seed + ":" + k ), 16 ) mod (positions remaining) and remove it. Toronto's places 1 and 2 win and Vancouver's place 1 wins; the remaining places are substitutes, used in order only if a winner is ineligible or does not claim within fourteen days.

Winners

July's winners appear here on 12 August 2026, alongside the Lotto Max numbers used and the resulting seed, so anyone can repeat the calculation.

How the draw is verified

Anyone should be able to check that we did not pick the winners ourselves. So the draw works like this:

  1. The pool is frozen. When the month closes we take the list of entries and publish a cryptographic hash of it — a short fingerprint that changes completely if even one character of the list changes.
  2. The seed comes from Lotto Max. The random number that picks the winners is built from the seven main numbers in the first Lotto Max draw after the month closes. Those numbers did not exist when we published the fingerprint, and they are drawn on national television — so we could not have chosen them.
  3. The result can be recomputed. Anyone holding the list and the seed can run the same selection and get the same winners.

Publishing the fingerprint before the seed exists is what makes this work: we cannot change the list afterwards without the fingerprint no longer matching, and we cannot choose the seed to favour anyone.

Each month's fingerprint, seed and result appear above, alongside the winners.
